Comments:

I graduated from St. Louis University in 1973 with a B.S. in Management Science. Worked summers for Western Auto in OFallon, Mo. with some fellow graduates Glen Wilkerson,Tom Metzler and Ron Rivera to name a few. Mike Evans and I both worked the summer of 1969 selling magazines for my Father's company at the time. You will all have to ask Mike about the impression that job made on the back of his 1969 Impala SS. That summer Dave Alexander and I took a little road trip to Elephant Rock State Park where on the way there on a stormy night we were nearly run off the road by a bunch of drunk rednecks. I credit Dave for saving my life by pulling me up out of a deep whirlpool at the park. After college, I moved on to Lexington, Ky., married and had 2 lovely daughters, Amanda and Robyn. In 1987, the Stag Beer Co. shut down and in 1989 the Parent Co. asked me to relocate to Seattle Wa. so I did taking my 2 daughters with me after a divorce the year before. I was asked to go out on a blind date by one my fellow workers and my date, Francine Simmons, became Francine Wright on St. Patricks Day 1990. The following year August 10, 1991 my son, Christopher Collin Wright was born to carry on the family name. Chris has been a joy for his whole family. He will be attending U.W. this fall. He has done some great artwork and received several awards for his art and Outstanding Academic Excellance. I'm lucky he is going to U.W. because his sister Amanda works there and can keep an eye on him. So after moving out here, my job ended at Rainier Brewing Co. which closed down and I retrained and became a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Talk about small worlds--I went to a presentation about Traumatic Pediatric Head injuries and the guest speaker was a 1969 Graduate of Hazelwood, William Morris MD. When he was done speaking he walked past me and I said hey Bill and I guess he didn't hear me or thought whats this nut want. However, he is doing well but can not make it to this reunion.

School Story:

I started at Hazelwood in my Junior year moving to St. Louis from Shoreline after 10th grade. I remember my dad telling me that I better try hard if I wanted to go to college and I did. Our school was really big but the halls were congested- if you dropped a book forget it. I remember we had a few overzealous vice-principals like Salade who tried to enforce hair length rules during our lunch hour. During PE, I was the new guy and I don't know why but I was chosen to quarterback against Butch Green and his squad. I don't think Butch liked me or he didn't like losing cause he called me penis breath. I wanted to deck him but the advice from my Dad held me back. I had Mr. Lippman for History who was great. He also donated his time to start the History Club at Hazelwood and we went on several great field trips including the Old Post Office, The Old Court House and many others I can't remember. We also worked on restoring the Old Cold Water School that was right on campus. We made a float for when we played the Huskies and thats where I met Mike Sisk who is on the can't find list. Mike got a bass guitar for his birthday and we got together with Margy Sobotka lead singer, Steve Gibilterra lead guitar, John Anderson on keyboards, and I can't remember the names of the 2 drummers. I think one was Swanson. However, I think we all were in love with Margy and when all our hearts were broken by the romance between John and Margy The Pigeon Toed Orange Peel withered away. My best and longest lasting friendship at Hazelwood was Mike Evans. I memorized Mike's locker combo and had him forever terrorized that when he opened his locker all his books would fall out. During the summer, he would drive through my neighborhood and Gary Jarvis would hose him down and he would chase us around trying to spray us down with cold soda. Mike's brother was a friend too and there was an old quarry up Halls Ferry Road past our school on the right out of sight and one hot summer day we decided to take a swim in it. When we were leaving, 2 groups of men formed up and down the road from us. We choose to confront the group with only 2 men armed with a huge rock and police dog. They basically interrogated us on who told us about the Quarry. Even today, if you drive there and just park in front of it you will be tailed by a blue pickup truck as my brother Bill and son Chris were last summer. Mr. Siebert was one of my favorite teachers for Physics. He made the class fun and inspiring. Then there was Mr. Rascher for speech class and I think all the girls were in love with him. In Mrs. Stritz's English class it was a little rowdy and loud and much to Jim Kramer and Jim Knight's dismay I asked that my seat be moved to a less disruptive side of the class. I think we all miss those days and feel that they went too fast and now we can't slow down the hour glass and it seems to gain speed every year and for some of our classmates the hourglass is empty already.
