In Memory

Carey Maxwell (Dunn)

Carey "Beth" Dunn passed away on September 1, 2017 at the age of 66. She was the beloved wife of Timothy Dunn of Foristell, Missouri; She is survived by her son, Danny (Heidi Box) Halleman; daughter, Carey L. (Jeremy Shockley) Dunn; grandsons, Dylan Dunn-Randazzo, Briley Halleman, Brendan Halleman; brother, Ross (Sue) Maxwell; sister, Rebecca (Kutay) Taysi; She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Maxwell, mother, Hazel Maxwell. Beth was always destined to work with flowers, it had become a backdrop to not only her childhood, but early adulthood as well. From her grandfather’s rose garden, to her mom’s amazing floral and fruit gardens, and her brother’s nursery, it was only natural that this would be so. After being laid off in the early 90's from McDonnell Douglas, Beth began to work locally for Karrenbrock's Flowers, and had reignited her passion for flowers. After Mrs. Karrenbrock passed away, Beth went to Hixon School of Floral Design. When she graduated, Beth took the biggest risk of her life and converted on old convenience store into her very own flower shop, Dunn’s Florist. The florist celebrated their 25th anniversary this year, and has become a staple of Wentzville and the surrounding communities. She loved giving back to her neighborhood, and took many free opportunities volunteering her time within the Wentzville community. Beth had a philosophy that business is only as successful as your community, and took this constitution very seriously. She was a proud member of the Wentzville Rotary Club, where she was the first female President 03-04. She was even awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for her contributions. Beth also served on the Community Assistance Board, St. Charles County Fair board, and was also member of the Wentzville Downtown Business association, and the Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized by many local and state organizations for her contributions in community service. Beth loved spending time with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren. She often said they were her greatest successes! She also enjoyed golfing and antiquing….a lot! Beth was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Wentzville. Beth had a great sense of humor, and a personality that lit up the sky. She never met a stranger, and was always a place of comfort for those who knew her. Her biggest philosophy was "It isn't how other people treat you; it's how you treat them.”, and that was her greatest lesson; one of dignified spirit. A woman of grace, full of love, hope, and strength, that just wanted to share it with everyone. Beth beautified our world, one person, and one flower at a time. She will dearly be missed by all that knew her.
